10 TIPS FOR TIMELESS HEADSHOTS:
1. Relax, have a good time and rock your confidence. Set the tone by leaving some breathing room in your schedule. Please be ready five minutes early so you will not feel rushed.
2. Wear clothes that make you feel amazing and fit your professional branding. Your outfit should be comfortable and fit well. Having confidence, a polished look and a warm smile will help you achieve the goals of a dynamic headshot.
3. Stay away from trendy fabrics and designs that might date your photo. Avoid distracting bulky jewelry, and busy patterns/prints (especially mens ties). Opt for solid colors when possible.
4. Dark clothes put the attention on your face and eyes. Contrasting textures creates interest in photos. Long sleeves/suit jackets are recommended.
5. Please iron clothes and use a lint roller, as wrinkles and lint tend to stand out in pictures. The retouching involved is extensive and may incur an extra fee.
6. Bad hair can ruin a photo. Consider getting your hair cut/color touched up one week prior to the session. Note: this isn’t the time to try a new and unusual hairstyle.
7. Prepare for the shoot by grooming fingernails (neutral color nail polish recommended). Please remove hairties from your wrist.
8. Men, if you have facial hair, please shave right before arrival
9. If you wear glasses most of the time, you will want to wear them in your headshot photo. To eliminate glare or reflections, bring empty frames or remove the lenses from your glasses. I can take photos with and without the glasses.
10. If you cannot decide for sure what to wear, then bring two different changes of clothing and ask for advice.
